A Story of Love, Loss, and Intuition
Have you ever lost someone you love?
It can be emotionally and physically tough. You might experience feelings of sadness, anger, guilt, and fatigue. Everyone’s experience is different, and it can take time to heal. Sometimes, we hold onto these losses for years, as the heaviness in our hearts grows and our physical bodies deteriorate.
Remember that it is okay to feel these things, and it is important to take the time you need to grieve. If you need support, it is okay to ask for it too.
I want to share a story about Sofia, one of my clients who came to me seeking healing from a recent loss. When I met her, Sofia was processing the loss of a precious love that few are lucky enough to experience, but we’ve all had a taste of.
A few years prior, she had met a man and they fell deeply in love. Their love was deep and profound, and they connected in ways she had never experienced before. This man had the capacity to love her for all that she is. Unfortunately, their love was unfairly cut short due to his chronic illness. Sofia is a powerful intuitive empath and she knew when he received the diagnosis that she needed to have closure with him before he passed away, and she was lucky enough to get that. However, after his loss, she couldn’t shake the feeling that there may have been something she could have done to prevent it.
As intuitives, we sometimes experience “knowings” like Sofia did, of knowing something is going to happen before it does. These intuitive knowings can be extremely difficult to experience and make sense of. Some people find them frightening and wonder why they seem to encounter so much pain and suffering. This can lead to self-blame, thinking that somehow their knowing may have caused the experience. Some people, like Sofia, feel guilty, thinking that the knowing was supposed to somehow help them prevent the loss from happening. I’ve talked to people who experience these intuitive knowings and wonder why bad things always seem to happen to them, and get angry at the Universe for forewarning them. What we often don’t realize is that these knowings serve a purpose that actually benefits us.
As intuitive empaths, we experience our emotions deeply. Our intuitive knowings often intensify those feelings. When we grieve, we carry it in our hearts. Emotions such as sadness, anger, guilt, and blame can build up and weigh us down, blocking the heart chakra.
The healing process for grief takes time. You’ve probably heard of the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. If not, I’ll expand on them below. As Fritz Perls says, “The only way out is through.” Luckily, Reiki can help you move through this process with more ease. You don’t have to experience or hold onto your suffering.
When Sofia came in for her session, I knew she needed a focus on healing and opening her heart chakra. Here’s what that looks like.
Behind the Scenes of a Reiki Session Focused on Opening Your Heart
Healing energy will always go to wherever it is needed for the best and highest good of the receiver.
During any Reiki session, the healing energy will always go to wherever it is needed for the best and highest good of the receiver, regardless of the intention.
However, setting an intention for the session can help guide the healing towards specific areas. Today, I’m sharing what a Reiki session focused on the heart chakra would look like.
During a session focused on opening your heart chakra, I will work to balance your energy and release any blockages in this area.
The heart chakra serves as a bridge between the upper and lower chakras, balancing the physical world with the spiritual. When this chakra is blocked, it can hinder our ability to connect with our physical bodies or shut down our connection to Spirit.
Therefore, I will also evaluate the flow of energy into and out of the heart chakra, as well as any other chakras that it may be connected to and that could be contributing to disturbances in your energy flow.
This involves using gentle touch and visualization techniques to direct Reiki energy to the heart chakra, which is located in the center of the chest. Singing bowls, rose quartz, or Reiki symbols may also be used to assist in opening up the heart chakra. Additionally, I often incorporate essential oils to increase awareness of the heart space and support the healing process. When working with grief, I use a special blend from DoTerra called Console. This oil is designed to provide support during times of grief, and I find that it helps to soften any overwhelming feelings of sadness and makes them easier to process.
During a heart-opening session, you may experience various sensations, such as warmth or tingling in the chest area. You may also feel emotions such as sadness, grief, or joy as blockages are released and energy flows more freely through the heart chakra. It’s normal to experience an emotional release and begin to cry, as these releases are beneficial for the body and signify that you’re ready to move through the emotion and release it.
When emotions arise, I hold space and breathe with you as you move through them until the feelings pass and you return to a state of balance. If needed, we can also discuss the emotions that arise to help you process anything that is coming up for you. Sometimes, your guides will come through with a message or reminder to support you in healing and opening your heart.
After the session, my hope is that you feel a greater sense of peace, openness, and connection to others. It is also possible to feel deeply emotional following the session and find yourself needing more time to process these emotions. This is a sign that Reiki sessions should be continued, as there are often layers of healing that need to occur.
You may also notice improvements in your relationships and learn to communicate more openly and compassionately with others. With regular Reiki sessions focused on opening the heart chakra, we can build on these important skills so that you can continue to receive more love and abundance in your life.
