First, what is manifesting? Manifesting is the act of using your thoughts, beliefs, and emotions to bring something you want into existence. This practice is often associated with the law of attraction, which suggests that our thoughts and beliefs can influence our experiences and outcomes.
Manifesting has been popularized through social media and books, such as The Secret. A search for the hashtag #manifestation on Instagram yields over 8 million posts full of quotes, angel numbers, and idealized people seemingly living their dream lives.
While I am grateful that these spiritual concepts have gained popularity over the past few years, there is also a harmful side to them, especially for people of color and LGBTQIA+ individuals.
The Benefits of Manifesting
Manifesting is a powerful practice that can help you transform your life. At its core, manifestation is about using the power of your thoughts, beliefs, and emotions to bring what you want into existence. By focusing on the things you want, you can make them more likely to happen.
One of the key benefits of manifestation is that it can help you stay true to yourself. By focusing on your desires and what you truly want, you can generate happiness from within. This can help you move forward in life emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
When you use manifestation techniques, you might call in the resources you need to pursue your passions. This could involve attracting the finances you need to start a new business or go back to school, for example. By using your unique gifts and talents, you can contribute to society in meaningful ways.
Manifestation is a co-creation process with the universe. The idea is that if you think positively about what you desire and truly believe it with all of your being, what you want will manifest physically in your life. By surrounding yourself with positivity and good feelings, you can attract more positivity and abundance into your life. This can lead to greater happiness, success, and fulfillment.
I do believe that manifesting as a practice has worked for me in my life, and I’ve seen it work in the lives of my clients. One of my favorite examples of something I’ve manifested is when I was hosting women’s circles, and I wanted to learn to deliver my circles to larger groups of people.
This idea simply started as a seed of thought in my mind, but I wasn’t sure how it would happen. Often, when these types of ideas pop up for me, I’ll put it out to my Spirit support team and ask that if it is meant for me, the right opportunity be presented to me.
Not much later after putting this out to the Universe, I went to lunch with a colleague who started sharing with me about a program they were participating in that taught all the things I wanted to learn, and the opportunity to take this program was coming up within a couple of weeks. I was completely excited by the program and how it could expand me as a circle facilitator.
However, the program cost a thousand dollars, which I didn’t have. So, I petitioned the Universe and asked that if this program was really meant for me, the money would show up in time for me to sign up for the program.
Literally, the next day, I sold a service package to a client that was exactly the amount I needed to take the program. I took that as a big fat YES to sign up, did so, and am so grateful that I did because I learned so much from the experience.
This experience is one of many that has shown me how manifestation helps to focus our thoughts and energy towards what we want, and to attract positive experiences and opportunities into our lives.
So, why is it important to have a positive mindset when manifesting? Focusing on the positive creates a more abundant energy field around you. When your energy field is abundant and full of light, you are more easily able to attract positive experiences and opportunities into your life.
A positive mindset can help you stay focused on your desires and generate happiness from within, ultimately helping you move forward in life. By learning to focus on the positive things that already exist in your life, you can become more resilient in the face of challenges and setbacks, while maintaining a sense of hope and optimism. This can lead to greater happiness, success, and fulfillment.
Before you dive into trying to think your way into bringing what you want into existence, there are some important things to consider. While positive thinking, true belief, and feeling good feelings can be beneficial, focusing on positivity alone can lead us to fall into some pretty harmful traps.
It is important to remember that manifestation is not a substitute for hard work, dedication, and perseverance, and that there are many systemic barriers and inequalities that can make it extremely difficult to simply think what you want into existence.
