Should you be?… Learn how to let go of how you think things should be and take a massive step towards your healing.

Letting go of how you think things should be is a massive step towards healing. Whether it’s healing from trauma, codependency, or working toward success in your business, we tend to focus on the past and strive to overcome it. Healing in this way keeps you stuck in the past, repeating the same patterns. Meanwhile, we fill ourselves with expectations about how things should be and what we should be doing.

How do you ‘should’ on yourself? Should you be…

… losing weight to look prettier?
… feeling happy even when you’re not?
… achieving some goal or level of success in your business?
… following along with traditional roles and labels?
… taking care of others before yourself?

The amount of should we put on ourselves is endless.

But the thing about ‘shoulds’ is they aren’t your truth.

They are someone else’s voice playing around like a broken record in your mind.

These ‘shoulds’ are the byproduct of all the expectations put on you from society, your parents, traditions, religion, etc. The things you take in condition you to believe there is a certain order to the world that you are meant to follow.

‘Shoulds’ and expectations quiet the voice that is your true self, what makes you unique and authentic. They drain your power and keep you from standing in the fullness of your being.

To let go of how you think things should be, you need to have tenderness and compassion for yourself. Learn to accept yourself fully, accept the dark parts of your past and the light that you want to be in the world. Sit with what is and allow yourself to flow effortlessly with the present moment.

When you can do this and come into balance with your truth, you will be able to open your heart and see things from a new perspective, with an appreciation and gratitude for who you’ve become and the things that make you who you are.

Look back at all that you have accomplished. You are whole and complete exactly the way you are, right now. Seeing yourself in this way is standing in your greatest power.

When you stand in your power, you are comfortable being boldly in your truth and you can act from your heart. As you become whole you serve as a light for others. You create a world that is power-filled, authentic, and true.

Next time you feel that ‘should’ bug buzzing in your mind, get curious: what would happen if you shifted into acceptance and opened your heart to the possibilities?

The Universe is full of limitless potential and it’s waiting for you to step into your power.
